  • 1.  FAQ Using Paid Family Leave (PFL) within Coverage.CoverageDeduction

I have a couple of outstanding questions/comments regarding fields in v1.2.

    Coverage.CoverageDeduction

    • The 'DeductionTypeStateProvinceCode' and 'DeductionTypePreTaxCode' fields below share the same description on the schema, so wanted to confirm what is expected in each.
      • DeductionTypeStateProvinceCode
        • Is this the State or Province Code (2 character abbreviation) associated with the deduction?
        • For non-state or province deductions, is this expected to be blank?
      • DeductionTypePreTaxCode – Is the output for this field one of the PreTax Simple Type enums (i.e. PostTax, PreTax)?

Paid Family Leave (PFL) – This isn't a benefit plan within Workday, thus data retrieved for PFL will not be the same as other Product Types. Can you please advise whether PFL is expected to have a Coverage node on the file and if so, which fields within the coverage node are required for PFL?

For 1.2 ADP does not store a PFL plan as well. How we have handled this is working with the carrier and copying a plan type that we do store that has the same population base. Usually it is the same group that has BASICSTD or a subset that can be broken out as an option.

@Michael Grudgings - The description for 'DeductionTypePreTaxCode' is the same as 'DeductionTypeStateProvinceCode' and hence needs to be updated.
The description for 'DeductionTypePreTaxCode' can be updated to something like 'Indicates whether the coverage deduction is pre-tax or post-tax, based on IRS guidelines'.
